Risk assessments for pregnant staff during the pandemic<\/h1>\n

Do you have an employed or self-employed member of staff working at your practice who is pregnant?<\/p>\n

Although guidance previously suggested that once they reach the third trimester of their pregnancy they should not be in a patient facing role due to the risks of COVID-19, The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recently updated their advice on this matter. The guidance now states that an individual who is pregnant can continue working with patients at any stage of pregnancy as long as a pregnancy and individual risk assessment has been carried out.<\/p>\n

As an employer you are under a duty of care to your staff and to ensure a safe working environment, therefore you should review the risk assessments regularly and make any changes necessary.<\/p>\n
